EVALUATE YOUR POTENTIAL
TOURISM INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Ontario East Economic Development Commission (OEEDC) Tourism Sector Investment Committee is hosting a one-day workshop for community groups that are interested in advancing a specific tourism development in their community.

The workshop is designed for community groups or development committees who have identified an investment for their community and have completed some background research. By the end of the day, group participants will have a good understanding of their current position and the next steps in the process to attract new capital investment.

The workshop will:

  • Help communities understand the nature of investment decision-making in tourism related facilities;
  • Provide communities with a resource to help them measure their own level of investment or market readiness for particular types of tourism investment;
  • Provide an understanding of how a community’s tourism related investment readiness can be improved;
  • Provide guidance to assist communities in selecting the investment opportunities that have the greatest chance of achieving success;
  • And just as important, provide guidance to assist communities in determining that some “investment opportunities” are in fact not feasible before they commit to the expenditure of considerable time and resources to market an opportunity that is not financially viable; and
  • Provide an understanding of the types of data and information required to successfully market a tourism related investment opportunity.
Who Should Attend?
  • A group or committee established to investigate the pre-feasibility of an intended or proposed tourism investment project.
  • Tourism destination marketing organizations interested in product development pre-feasibility; and
  • Local community/economic and tourism development groups or committees

For optimal results, it is recommended that community groups consist of 2 - 5 stakeholders and/or project champions who are committed to participating in the one-day workshop.

Space will be limited to 6 communities so if your community is interested in participating, please complete the registration form and one of the committee members will get back to you to discuss the details.
